The New Paltz Community Foundation, Inc., (NPCF) established in 1997, was initially sponsored by the New Paltz Economic Development Corporation. The Development Corporation board believed it was crucial to nurture philanthropic efforts within the New Paltz community. They saw that some community needs are best satisfied through philanthropy, not taxes. After initiating the formation of the Foundation, the organization was entrusted to a Board of Directors.
