For the Good of Our Community

The purpose of the New Paltz Community Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in the New Paltz region for current and future generations. Community foundations are a popular and established way for individuals, families, civic organizations, and other foundations to support worthwhile projects within their communities. The New Paltz Community Foundation administers and manages funds donated to it by people interested in the quality of life in the New Paltz area. We are a not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 corporation set up to accept tax-exempt gifts.

We're Bringing New Life to Hasbrouck Park!

On April 2, 2008, The Village of New Paltz Board of Trustees passed a resolution to support the New Paltz Community Foundation project to restore, improve and enhance Hasbrouck Park. Click here or on drawing below for more info...

In 1994, more than 400 communities in the United States had established foundations, some dating from the turn of the century. These foundations administered over $10 billion in assets, received $1 billion in gifts and awarded more than $652 million in grants to their respective communities. Nationally, community foundations are the fastest growing form of philanthropy.

The New Paltz Community Foundation, Inc., (NPCF) established in 1997, was initially sponsored by the New Paltz Economic Development Corporation. The Development Corporation board believed it was crucial to nurture philanthropic efforts within the New Paltz community. They saw that some community needs are best satisfied through philanthropy, not taxes. After initiating the formation of the Foundation, the organization was entrusted to a Board of Directors. Each member of the NPCF's nine-member board of directors serves a term of three years.
